Bishop quotes Weathers, who says that Grammar A has to do with what is "socially prestigious." Whether or not we urge our students to follow the conventions of this grammar, do we owe it to our students to teach them what this grammar is? Why or why not?

Sommers notes that students' theses can keep them from discovering new ideas. Would it be helpful to encourage students to write "body paragraphs" first, and then write theses later? What would be the costs and benefits of such a practice?
