1. What experiences do y'all have with nonstandard assessment practices? Either as the student or as the instructor? Did you enjoy this experience?
2. Elbow calls for the deemphasis of "ranking." As a student, ranking has been (as far as I can remember) the sole method of assessment I've experienced. While I see the benefits of deemphasizing ranking as a future instructor, as a student, there's some hesitancy—it's what I'm used to. Now, to the question: Interrogate your subjectivities. What is your comfort level, as a student, with deemphasizing ranking? As an instructor?
