Laura Smith July 19 Questions


1) Devitt defines genre as a much more active component in the writing process. How does the new concept of genre function differently from the old concept? What effect does that have on teaching genre?



2) Devitt identifies a potential problem in creating assignments where the student either doesn’t understand the situation, or doesn’t understand the genre well enough to execute the assignment. Do you see this as a potential problem? If so, how do you plan on addressing it?
