Hi Dami! Re: your first question, my feelings on the WPA guidelines are a little torn. I think the outcomes are, more or less, fine, but they do seem to ignore some larger conversations in composition. For example, what is the WPA's belief on the relationship between language, knowledge and power socially rather than in the field of each student? Similarly, the section deemed "Knowledge of Conventions" seems a little prescriptive to me and redundant with the rhetorical knowledge section. Lastly, I think Bartholomae notes a disconnect between composition instructors and the other disciplines on campus. How are composition instructors to focus so astutely to the language, genres, and conventions of each students' individualized field?
